When people think about environmental responsibility or living a more “sustainable” lifestyle, we frequently frame it in terms of cost. To an individual, it’s the extra time and effort we put into our daily routines to recycle more and waste less. It’s spending a little more money on organic produce, reusable containers, or less-toxic cleaning supplies. We do it for a reason, but that reason isn’t always clear or tangible.
